Recado Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and the owner of the Recado app for iPhone and Apple Watch. They are written to be read: no fine print buried anywhere and no sentences only a lawyer would understand. By downloading, installing or using Recado you accept what is stated here. If there is something you do not agree with, do not use the app.

1. Who provides the service

Recado is provided by Olevior, a software company based in Mexico City, Mexico, referred to in these terms as “we” or “us”. How your data is processed is explained in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

2. What Recado is

Recado records a conversation (a meeting, a class, a consultation or an idea) from your iPhone or Apple Watch, or takes in audio that you import, and returns two things: a transcript with the speakers identified and a structured summary of what was discussed, what was agreed and what was left pending.

On that note you can edit the text by hand, ask a chat for changes, review the dated commitments Recado detected in order to create events or reminders, and share or export the result. In order to work, the audio is sent to our servers and to artificial intelligence providers, as described in the privacy policy.

3. What you need to use it

  • An iPhone with iOS 26 or later. To record from your wrist, a compatible Apple Watch.
  • Nothing to get started: the Free plan asks for no card and no account. To use more, an active subscription; paid plans have no trial period.
  • An internet connection in order to process recordings. With no connection the app records all the same and stores the audio; the processing happens when the signal comes back.
  • The microphone permission. The notification, Calendar and Reminders permissions are optional.
  • To be of legal age, or to have the authorisation of whoever holds parental responsibility or guardianship. Recado is not directed at children under 13.

4. The subscription

Recado is offered with three plans, with the same transcription and summary quality in all three. The only thing that changes is how much you can use each month:

PlanMonthlyYearlyIncluded each month
FreeMX$0MX$020 minutes of processed audio and 5 requests to the chat
EssentialMX$149MX$1,499500 minutes of processed audio and 50 requests to the chat
ProMX$249MX$2,4991,000 minutes of processed audio and 100 requests to the chat

The Free plan costs nothing and does not expire. It is one per iPhone per month: Apple confirms to Recado, without personal data, whether that iPhone already opened a free account that month, and if it did, the new account gets its minutes from the next cycle. It also has a daily cap shared by all its users: if it fills up, your note waits in line without losing anything or using minutes, and is processed the next day. Paid plans never wait.

Prices are stated in Mexican pesos and include the applicable taxes as determined by Apple for your region. The price, the period and the automatic renewal are always shown in the app before you buy, and the amount shown there is the one that governs: should this page differ, the one the App Store shows in your account prevails.

The purchase is made exclusively through Apple's App Store, with the Apple account you already have. No card details are requested inside Recado and there are no payments outside it. Your purchase is restored on any device with the same Apple ID using Restore purchases, available on the plans screen and in Settings.

5. Automatic renewal and cancellation

  • The subscription is auto-renewing: it renews on its own at the end of each period and Apple charges your account.
  • To stop it from renewing, you must cancel it at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • Cancellation is done from iOS Settings › your name › Subscriptions, like any other App Store subscription. We cannot cancel it for you.
  • When you cancel, you keep access until the period you already paid for is over.
  • Deleting your data inside the app does not cancel the subscription. They are two different things and the second one is done with Apple.

6. Refunds

Since Apple processes the billing, Apple also handles refunds in accordance with its own policies. They are requested at reportaproblem.apple.com or from your account's purchase history. We cannot issue, authorise or deny an App Store refund. If the problem is a fault in the app or in the service, write to us first at contact@olevior.com: we will try to sort it out.

7. Plan changes

You can switch between Essential and Pro, and between monthly and yearly, whenever you want. The new plan's limits apply immediately and Apple prorates the charge according to its own rules. If you move from the Free plan to a paid one, the paid limits apply instantly and notes waiting for a summary are processed; unused free minutes are not added.

8. The limits of your plan

  • Minutes. They are counted on the audio actually processed, rounded up to the minute. Both recorded and imported audio count, and so does audio from the iPhone and from the Apple Watch alike: there is no separate quota for the watch.
  • Chat requests. Every message you send to the chat inside a note counts as one request. Regenerating the summary or changing the template also uses up a request. Editing the text by hand uses nothing up and has no limit.
  • Reset. Minutes and requests reset every month on your subscription date, even if you paid for the yearly plan; on the Free plan, on the date you started using Recado. Whatever you do not use does not roll over to the following month.
  • Maximum length. Up to 3 hours per recording from the iPhone. If the Apple Watch records on its own, without the iPhone nearby, up to 45 minutes per recording.
  • In plain sight. Your usage appears in Settings, and the app warns you when you reach 80% and 100% of your minutes.

9. When the quota or the subscription runs out

  • If the minutes run out: the recording is saved in full and is not lost. The note waits for its summary, and you can move up a plan or wait for the next cycle.
  • If the chat requests run out: the note can still be edited by hand, with no limit. Only the chat stops.
  • If the subscription ends: when the paid period is over, your account goes back to the Free plan. Your existing notes stay available on your device to read, edit by hand, share and export, and you can keep recording and processing within the Free plan's limits.

10. Licence to use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable and non-transferable licence to install and use Recado on the Apple devices associated with your account, for your own personal or professional purposes. The app, its code, its name, its brand, its design and its text remain ours: this licence does not transfer their ownership to you.

You may not copy, modify, decompile, reverse-engineer, resell, sublicense or redistribute the app, beyond what the law and the App Store rules allow.

11. Acceptable use

In using Recado you undertake not to:

  • Use it for unlawful purposes, or to process content obtained illegally.
  • Record or process conversations without the notice or the consent the law requires (section 12).
  • Attempt to get around the plan's limits, share your subscription with third parties, or use it on behalf of several people.
  • Send an excessive or automated volume of requests that degrades the service for everyone else.
  • Access the service by means other than the official app, or interfere with its security and verification mechanisms.
  • Use the generated content to harass, defame or harm anyone.

This is the most important obligation in these terms. You are responsible for what you record.

  • You must tell the other people that the conversation is being recorded. The app reminds you the first time, but that reminder does not replace your obligation.
  • You must obtain the consent required by the law applicable to the place and the situation in which you are recording. In some places it is enough for one of the parties to know; in others every participant's permission is needed.
  • You must not record where it is prohibited, nor conversations protected by professional secrecy, confidentiality or a contractual obligation that prevents it.
  • If in recording you process third parties' personal data, you are the one answerable to those people for that processing.

We disclaim any claim arising from recordings made without the necessary notice or consent, and you undertake to hold us harmless from third-party claims on that ground.

13. Who owns the content

Your recordings, your transcripts and your notes are yours. We claim no ownership over them.

So that we can provide the service to you, you grant us a licence strictly limited to processing that content (receiving it, transcribing it, summarizing it, applying the changes you ask for and delivering it to you) for as long as that processing lasts and no longer. Your content is not used to train artificial intelligence models, nor is it shared with anyone outside the necessary providers listed in the privacy policy, nor is it sold.

You can export your notes at any time from Settings, and delete them whenever you want.

14. Artificial intelligence gets things wrong

Recado uses artificial intelligence models to transcribe and summarize. That means the result may contain errors: misspelled names, one speaker's words attributed to another, a wrong figure, a misread date or a poorly summarized agreement.

  • Always check the dates, the amounts, the names and the agreements before acting on them or sending them to anyone.
  • Recado is not medical, legal, accounting or financial advice, and it does not replace a professional's judgement.
  • Recado is not intended for clinical, legal or financial uses with formal compliance requirements.
  • Recado never creates an event or a reminder on its own: it always proposes it and you confirm. What gets scheduled is what you accepted.
  • The delivery of notifications depends on the operating system and on the connection, and they are not guaranteed to be timely.

15. Service availability

We do what is reasonable to keep the service available, but we do not guarantee that it will run without interruptions or without errors. There may be maintenance, a provider outage or isolated failures. If a processing job fails, Recado retries and, if it cannot be done at that moment, leaves the note in the queue and lets you know when it is ready; the recording and the corresponding minutes are not lost because of a failure on our side.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without implied warranties beyond those the law does not permit to be excluded.

16. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from the use of, or the inability to use, Recado; in particular, for losses arising from an error in a transcript or in a summary, from a notification that did not arrive in time, from a commitment that was not detected, or from the loss of content you had not backed up.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that by law cannot be excluded. Where a limit applies, our total liability will not exceed the amount you have paid for the subscription in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to it.

17. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Recado whenever you want: cancel the subscription with Apple (section 5) and, if you wish, delete your data from Settings › Delete all my data. Remember that deleting the data does not cancel the subscription.

On our side, we may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, especially acceptable use (section 11) or the obligations regarding recordings (section 12), or if it is necessary for legal or security reasons. Where it is reasonable, we will give notice first.

18. Changes to the service and to these terms

We may change, add or withdraw features, and update these terms. When a change is significant we will announce it in the app or on this page and update the date at the end. If you do not like a change, you can cancel the subscription and stop using the app; continuing to use it after the notice means you accept the new version. Price changes to a subscription already taken out are communicated and handled under Apple's rules, which will ask for your consent where applicable.

19. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Mexican States. For any dispute, the parties submit to the competent courts of Mexico City, waiving any other venue that might correspond to them. The foregoing is without prejudice to the rights that consumer protection legislation grants to users.

If any clause of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest remains in force.

20. Contact

If you have questions about these terms, write to us at contact@olevior.com. Recado's privacy policy is at olevior.com/recado/privacy.
